Chehlum and Doa Mahfil of late freedom fighter Zainul Haque Sikder, a prominent industrialist and chairman of Sikder Group and National Bank Limited, was held on Monday after Zohr prayers, on the premises of Zainul Haque Sikder Women's Medical College and Hospital at Dhanmondi in the city.

Leaders of different political parties, activists, dignitaries and people from different walks of life attended the programme.

Former Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, MP, Tajul Islam, MP Aslamul Haque, former State Minister Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP Sadek Khan and others were present at the programme.

Late Zainul Haque Sikder’s wife Monowara Sikder, Rick Haque Sikder, Ron Haque Sikder, Nick Haque Sikder, Momtajul Haque Sikder, Nasim Sikder, Parveen Haque Sikder, MP, Lisa Fatema Haque Sikder greeted everyone to the programme. Dipu Haque Sikder could not attend the Chehlum and Doa mahfil due to the illness. More than 30,000 people attended the Chehlum and Doa mahfil.

People at the Doa mahfil offered prayers to the Almighty for the departed soul. 

It is to be mentioned that the heroic freedom fighter Zainul Haque Sikder passed away at a hospital in Dubai on February 10 this year.
