On June 13, 2024, the National Bank Limited inaugurated its first Bangla QR merchant at Benarasi Palli, Mirpur. The event took place at Benarasi Kuthi and was inaugurated by Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Managing Director & CEO of National Bank. The inauguration was attended by Imran Ahmed, the Deputy Managing Director; Kazi Kamal Uddin Ahmed, the Head of the ITD & SEVP; and Harun Ur Rashid, the owner of Benarasi Kuthi, among many others.

During the inauguration, Md. Touhidul Alam Khan experienced the Bangla QR service by completing a live transaction after making a purchase at Benarasi Kuthi.

It should be mentioned that National Bank officially launched the Bangla QR service on June 11, 2024. The bank will function as both a Bangla QR Acquirer and Issuer, allowing NBL customers to make purchases easily using the QR features through NBL Apps. Additionally, customers from other banks can also use the service when shopping with the Bangla QR code at various merchant points.
